Our Drinks

Cornwall and the wider South West provide a great wealth of drinks which are gaining a national and international reputation for quality. Being in Wadebridge, we wouldn’t dare not have Sharp’s Doom Bar as our main cask ale, but we are also keen to showcase other local ales such as St Austell’s Tribute and Trelawney, Harbour’s Amber Ale and IPA and Sharp’s Own making regular appearances on the pumps. The draught cider is an “incomer” from Somerset, Thatcher’s Gold.

We are blessed in Wadebridge by having our own independent Wine Shop, Wadebridge Wines. They are responsible for developing our list and Tamsin Jones has taken to her task with great gusto! A mix of well known and loved grapes along with some more obscure varieties give some interest to the list.

The recent gin renaissance in the UK is well represented on our bar by local spirits Tarquin’s, distilled just outside Wadebridge and who do a fantastic Cornish Pastis, the first made in the UK. How could we not stock the long established Plymouth Gin? Distilled in the city since 1793 and a firm favourite of gin aficionado’s everywhere.

The local phenomenon from Washaway, near Bodmin, gives us our sparkling wine made by the Lindo family. Their sparkling wines have been getting great recognition at International Wine Competitions, regularly beating the more illustrious Champagne Houses in blind tastings, including 41 awards in 2012.

Alcoholic drinks are not the only category that Cornwall excels in. Andy Atkinson has been producing beautiful apple juices and ciders at Cornish Orchards, Duloe near Liskeard. We are proud to stock his apple juices and Elderflower Pressé. Pure Blue Spring Water from St Cleer is our bottled water of choice.
